A Moses bassinet is a beautiful wicker basket that keeps the infant snug and secure. It is aptly named because Moses was nestled in a wicker basket when he was placed in the river. A handcrafted wicker bassinet will make the cute little baby seem that much more precious as it lies asleep amid the bedding that comes with the Moses wicker bassinet. The Moses type of bassinet is a rocker as well, just as you see in the Eddie Bauer and Graco models. It also looks just as antique as a wooden rocker and will last through the generations to become a family heirloom. With this bassinet, the wheels lock to make it stationary when you don't want to have the rocking motion and they also make it portable because you can wheel it all over the house. Another portable feature is that you can remove the sleeping section from the base for travel or even to bring the baby for a walk. Most of these bassinets also fit into strollers so you can attach it to the stroller using the harness strap and let the baby sleep away in the fresh air. When you want to get some sleep, you can pull the Moses cradle right up to the bedside. The lower shelf of the bassinet is a great storage area and the mattress pad that comes with the bedding set is a full two inches thick. It is firm so that the infant will remain in the same place. As with all other bassinets, the Moses wicker bassinet is only recommended for infants up to three months of age. At this point of before, they start to push themselves up on their hands and knees and there is a danger the baby might fall out over the low sides. When this happens, you know that it is time for the baby to start sleeping in a crib. You don't have to put the bassinet in storage, though, because it is still a perfect storage area and if you take out the basket section, you can use it to store toys.
